What can I say about the McGehee family other than how incredibly kind, inspiring and special they are! I could tell from Sarah's very first email that we would be a great fit. It was just around Mother's Day when we started chatting and she let me know that they would be in need of a newborn session for their newly adopted little boy named Weston. What an amazing Mother's Day gift Sarah received! Continue reading to find out more from Sarah's perspective as well.
When I arrived at their house, I was greeted with the most warm smiles and walked into such a happy home. Baby Weston was calm and content and parenthood came so naturally to Jon and Sarah. I could tell they were so smitten with their little boy.
Their nursery decor was the coolest! Jon had constructed a reclaimed wood wall for the backdrop of Weston's crib. Everything was woodsy and rustic themed, and I adored it!
As we progressed through the session, we got to know each other better and they shared a little bit of their amazing adoption story with me. Jesus is definitely in the business of adoption with how He works out everything for our good and His glory. It was amazing to get to see Jon and Sarah on the other side of this process, holding and adoring their forever baby. I'm getting teared up just writing this!
Y'all, photography is so much more than photos. So much more than poses. So much more than sharing on social media. It's about people. It's about capturing memories to look back on in this life, to see the journey, to see where Jesus brought us from to where we are now. Having images like this are just perfect reminders to always be thankful to the One who is always in control.
Jon and Sarah, thank you for inviting me in your home to capture Baby Weston. I just don't think you know what that means to me!
From Sarah's Perspective:
"The past three and half years have been a journey that has held some of the deepest sorrows and some of the sweetest joys. There were times we thought God didn’t hear our cries, times we thought He wasn’t working, and times we were just plain mad. But it was during the trials of infertility and miscarriage God began to change our hearts while writing the most beautiful story and forming this precious life. The journey of adoption has not always been easy and beautiful, it’s painful, hard, and the weight is so heavy. There were times when we were matched and thought the Lord was finally answering our prayers to find out “not yet”.
We continued to pray for His will, His timing, and His perfect plan and when we met our precious birthmom and her family we knew in that moment God was answering our prayers far more than we could have ever asked for. Her strength, courage, selflessness, beauty, and love for her baby changed us forever. We are overwhelmed with His goodness and love and couldn’t even begin to imagine a story more perfect and beautiful than the one the Lord wrote for all of us. On May 5, 2017 at 3:41 am our lives changed forever and God’s faithfulness, redemption, grace, goodness, and love was on display when Weston Miles was born weighing 8 lbs 13 oz and 21 inches long. We will always be overwhelmed and in awe of God’s goodness and faithfulness and the weight, love, courage, and selflessness that our birthmom displayed will forever be in our hearts."
