Often there are special photography guidelines from the venue. For example, many Catholic churches do not allow the use of flash or photos of certain rituals. This is an important question, so please do not assume the answer. Please be sure to find out any and all venue restrictions so we can discuss how they might affect your photos.

Family Photo List

In order to keep the day flowing smoothly, it's important to plan out the group/family formals that happen after the ceremony. Please list out any family groups the bride and groom will be photographed with. (i.e. bride & groom with parents, bride & groom with groom's aunt, husband & cousins, etc.) Be specific! I will use this list to call out the groups to keep it moving. Also, please be sure that these individuals remain in the ceremony space so we don't lose anyone! Please note: Wedding party photos do not need to be included here. Depending if there is a first look or not, these typically happen outside after family formals. Be sure that your party knows to stay with us after the ceremony in general. All of this should be noted on the final timeline as well.

Location of Family Formals

Depending on the lighting situation, family photos are often taken outside in natural light (if indoor wedding), along with wedding party photos. However, it may not be possible for grandparents or others to walk to another spot. This is okay! Please choose the option best suited for your day.

All family formals taken outside (or inside if light is good) at location photographer deems best for photographic outcome. In other words, no restrictions on moving family members to another spot.

All family formals taken at altar or inside ceremony location.

Photos with grandparents (or others with limited mobility) taken at altar, then the rest of family photos taken outside.
